We asked: What are you doing to bring shoppers back into retail centers?
Steve Sumell, EVP, Portfolio – Trademark Property Company
We are so focused on creating unique and exciting experiences for shoppers, we hired industry-veteran, Chuck Steelman, as our VP of experience to create memorable moments not offered with e-commerce. We want shoppers to not only shop but have fun doing it. We are creating safe experiential environments and useful spaces that foster community. Trademark continually evolves our retail, F&B and entertainment offerings to maximize their appeal to our various stakeholders. Our ultimate goal is to have walkable, user-friendly projects that create experiences and memories for all who visit.
Gavin Farnam, President, Retail Services — Madison Marquette
We are focused on driving traffic in several ways. First through social media, the consumer expects to be able to find and engage with interesting content while seeking general information about operations, events, and health and safety measures at our centers. Second is through the amenities to improve the customer experiences, in which we make sure to provide a seamless shopping experience whether by providing efficient curbside pickup or an amazing gathering space where people feel welcome and safe. Finally, working with our retailers to make sure they are open, staffed appropriately and have the inventory is critical to bringing the shopper back to the centers. All of these are the keys to driving traffic.
