Purple mattress brand opened the 2,500-s.f. inline unit within the upscale Bridgeport Village outdoor shopping center in July. The lease deal was negotiated during the height of the pandemic, so the brokers relied on numerous Zoom meetings during their negotiations, in addition to having outdoor meetings at the mall that utilized safety protocols. Purple covered the costs to build out the space into its new prototype design, which displays and emphasizes the mattress’ pressure relief gel surface technology, in addition to showcasing other luxury products such as pajamas, blankets and pillows. This is Purple’s first unit in the state of Oregon.

The team at Purple was especially attracted to the Bridgeport Village space because the shopping center houses other home furnishing brands, including the only Crate & Barrel and the only The Container Store in the state of Oregon. The premium-priced mattress brand also appreciated that there are other popular high-traffic tenants in the center, including Apple Store and Lululemon Athletica, as well as the largest Regal IMAX Theatre in the state, which has a mall entrance close to the Purple unit.
Tigard is a suburban community located less than ten miles southwest of Portland, which is experiencing population growth at a rate of 1.53% annually. The shopping center is located within walking distance to The Grand Hotel at Bridgeport, ensuring that a steady stream of tourist foot traffic will become familiar with the digitally native, bed-in-a-box Purple brand.
