In keeping with the open green space concept that is trending with shopping mall developments, the Trademark-owned Annapolis Town Center mixed-use shopping center in Annapolis, Md., had a ribbon cutting ceremony in late October to celebrate the completion of its renovation efforts, including its new Green Village gathering area. With the new outdoor park-like section doubling its size by 50%, the extra green space includes a performance stage and a pavilion to encourage more social gathering events. Additional updates include new public art displays from local artists, as well as a modernized climate-controlled paseo walkway between the parking area and the retail portion. The overall renovation took about four years to complete.
“We have transformed this property through increased green space and improved walkability to be relevant longer term to the Annapolis community,” said Terry Montesi, CEO of Trademark. “These changes are just the beginning as we continue this forward momentum as a leading and highly amenitized mixed-use property.”
The old adage, “If you build it, they will come,” seems to ring true with the large number of retail and restaurant tenants that signed on to be part of the new and improved Annapolis Town Center. To date, tenants currently under construction for future openings include Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Life Time and Urbano Mexican Fare, a Virginia-based Tex Mex bar/restaurant.
“We collaborated closely with stakeholders and the community to determine what offerings would set Annapolis Town Center apart,” said Josh Galica, vice president of Construction for Trademark. “These additions and changes have brought leading retailers for an exciting tenant mix.”
These tenants will join others that have recently opened at the center, including the 10,000-square-foot Vibe, a 500-person capacity live music restaurant/bar concept which opened in late November, as well as Warby Parker, which opened over the summer, and Tuscan Prime, a high-end Italian steakhouse and bar that opened in early 2022. The newer tenants will fit in well with the other long-time retailers that already call Annapolis Town Center home, including Restoration Hardware, Whole Foods Market, Target and Anthropologie.
