Retail could perhaps be the most tumultuous segment of the entire real estate market. So many things have changed in the last couple of years, and things continue to change at a rate that seems hard to keep up with. What is going on in the space, and how can you keep up?
“Retail is going to be a very interesting sector over the next couple years,” said Sara Havlena, managing editor of The Crittenden Report. “Consumers habits changed drastically during the pandemic, and it remains to be seen if those habits are permanent. Certain tenants and property types that were able to adapt all of a sudden became the belles of the ball. The immense population growth throughout the Sunbelt also shifted development and expansion plans for many retailers and owners.”
Havlena will be attending the 2022 Crittenden Real Estate Finance & Investment Conference and will be the moderator for a number of sessions, including “Retail State of the Industry: Development, Acquisitions, Investment.” The panelists for the session will include Terrence Maiden, CEO of Russel Glen; Colleen Heydon, senior vice president of marketing at Centennial; and David Emihovich, managing partner at Katz & Associates.
A myriad of topics will be discussed at the session, including:
- What is happening in the retail sector today?
- What are the most attractive retail acquisition opportunities?
- What is the prognosis for new retail development going forward?
- What predictions are there for retail debt and equity going forward?
- What upcoming retail trends are being forecast for retail?
“This is a great time to talk about what will happen in retail as companies start to look toward their goals for 2023,” Havlena said.
This year’s conference will take place September 14-16 at the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach hotel in Clearwater, Fla. For more information, click here.
