Emmy Squared Pizza, which has been growing its Detroit-style pizza concept into the South, will be eyeing potential sights by 2024 in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Miami, Greenville, S.C., and Asheville, N.C. The pizzeria seeks second-generation restaurant spaces in high-traffic, affluent residential neighborhoods close to urban metros that also have a tourist draw. This fast-casual chicken sandwich chain may only have three locations in Kansas, but franchise deals have already been inked to open 50+ locations in the future, with expansion expected into the new states of South Dakota and Texas. The ideal space is a freestanding pad for a drive-thru restaurant, which can be in a regional mall or a grocery-anchored center. Chick N Max serves fried tenders and wood-smoked pulled chicken, as well as 10 different chicken sandwich combinations.

The fast-casual restaurant chain plans expansion throughout the East Coast, with a focus on New York and New Jersey, after launching franchise opportunities last October. The chain offers soul food menu items such as baked mac and cheese, collard greens, yams, chicken, cornbread, catfish and peach cobbler.
