With the 2023 shopping mall trend geared toward a fusion of entertainment and technology, the renovations at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, which began in 2021 and are expected to be complete by the spring of 2023, are sure to be a major draw for tourists near and far. Vying to compete for foot traffic in a major destination city, the Miracle Mile Shops, owned by an affiliate of Institutional Mall Investors LLC (consisting of a joint venture between Miller Capital Advisory and CalPERS), has incorporated unique technological touches into its aesthetics, as well as its retail tenants. The design and construction elements have been handled by Cooper CarrySensory InteractiveDigital Kitchen and VCC.

“We are pleased with the progress we have been able to make, and it has all been thanks to our amazing design partners and construction team who have helped us realize our vision,” said Robert Buchanan, vice president/general manager of the Miracle Mile shops. “As we move into 2023, we look forward to seeing the continued progress around our property and are very excited to re-introduce the new and improved Miracle Mile Shops to our guests this spring.”

Some of those new and improved features include state-of-the-art LED screens and signage, an immersive show that will include projection mapping technology, new features to the indoor rain show that will incorporate immersive light elements, touchless digital directories and updated interior seating. The mall will also open a Sandbox VR in 2023, which will blend in nicely with the tech-forward touches.

The enclosed Miracle Mile Shops mall, offering more than a mile of premier stores, restaurants and live entertainment venues that adjoin the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, features other unique entertainment tenants, such as Tipsy Robot, a cocktail bar in which the drinks are made by robots (the tech was created by the KUKA Robotic Corporation of Germany). The mall also contains a15,000-s.f. Cabo Wabo Cantina, the restaurant/nightclub founded by rock musician Sammy Hagar, Club Tattoo, which houses world-famous tattoo artists and body piercers, and Nacho Daddy, a gourmet nacho eatery that also serves up unique cocktails. Other retailers in the Miracle Mile Shops include Lululemon AthleticaH&MSephora and Quay Australia.
