  • Foxtrot: Foxtrot recently secured $100 million in new funding with plans to open 50 locations over the next two years as it seeks to “modernize the nostalgic corner store experience” with a focus on discovery, both local and digital. Foxtrot plans to enter Austin and Boston in 2022 and New York, Nashville and Miami in 2023. Since launching first as a digital-only delivery service, Foxtrot has since opened 16 brick and mortar locations across Chicago, Dallas and D.C., each offering rapid, on-demand delivery and 5-minute pickup; introduced a national shipping platform called Foxtrot Anywhere; and pioneered industry-leading technology to support its one-of-a-kind omnichannel operating model.
  • Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom: Starting the year off strong, Smokin’ Oak Pizza announced the signing of its most recent development deal, which will bring two new Taproom locations to the Dallas–Fort Worth area in the next two years. The brand intends on signing additional development deals this year and entering new markets through its national franchising opportunities.
  • Lids: In January, Lids opened its largest store to date, a 7,000-sq.-ft. location at the 3 million sq. ft.-plus American Dream in East Rutherford, N.J. The retailer is also expanding internationally, opening its first standalone stores in Europe.
  • Shoe Station: US-based footwear and accessory retailer Shoe Carnival has purchased all the assets of family-owned footwear retailer Shoe Station for $67 million. Shoe Station is a privately held company with more than 500 employees. It operates 21 stores across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana.
