Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom will continue its franchise growth in states where the brand is underpenetrated, including Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, North Carolina, Texas and Oregon. Second-generation restaurant sites on freestanding pads or inline spaces are preferred, in entertainment-oriented neighborhoods near hotels and residences. The brand should benefit from SPB Hospitality’s acquisition of it three years ago, as expansion efforts will be amplified. This restaurant franchise expects to bump up its projected annual openings to about 24 new restaurants by 2024. Upcoming growth will target Texas, the Carolinas, Georgina, Florida, Illinois and Ohio. Beyond that, look for California, Nevada, Colorado, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Indiana, Connecticut and Pennsylvania to all be eyed. Mixed-use centers, freestanding pads and lifestyle centers are especially attractive to Tapville Social for its concept that features up to 48 self-pour craft beers.

12-Month Anticipated Openings: 3-5
The Southern California-based brand continues to expand throughout the region, especially in Orange County, San Diego County and Riverside County. The sandwich and beer concept has also hinted at further growth in the Phoenix market, adding to its unit in Tempe, Ariz., that marks the only location outside of its home state of California. Board and Brew seeks retail street fronts and grocery-anchored spaces in areas preferred by Gen Z patrons with disposable income, near high schools, colleges, beach towns or fun retail districts.
